Common mistakes and refusal reasons
1. Applying without travel history
Missions are reluctant to issue METV to first-time visitors. Build a history with a TR or two first.
2. Treating METV as a long-stay visa
Border runs on METV attract scrutiny. It is for frequent short visits, not for living in Thailand.
3. Missing the 60-day window per entry
Each entry is still limited to 60 days (plus 30-day extension). The 6-month validity is the window to enter, not to stay.

How is METV different from a regular tourist visa?
A single-entry TR gives one entry within 3 months. METV gives unlimited entries within 6 months, each up to 60 days. METV costs more and expects stronger financial evidence.
Can I live in Thailand on METV?
It is not designed for that. Repeated long stays on METV will attract scrutiny at the border. For long-term stay, use a visa built for it.
Do I need a travel history?
Not strictly required, but missions strongly prefer applicants who have previously entered Thailand. First-time applicants face lower approval rates.
Can I work on METV?
No. It is a tourist visa — no employment of any kind, including remote work.
