Common mistakes and refusal reasons
1. Not legalising civil documents
Marriage and birth certificates must be translated, notarised and apostilled. This is the step most often skipped.
2. Filing dependants after the primary holder enters
It is cleaner to file together. Filing separately adds complexity and processing time.
3. Children over 20 not eligible
Only children under 20 can apply as DTV dependants. Adult children need their own visa.
Frequently asked questions
Can my spouse work on a dependant DTV?
No. Dependant DTV does not grant work rights. Your spouse would need their own DTV (workation route) or a Non-B with a work permit.
Do children need their own application?
Yes. Each dependant files a separate application, even infants. They are linked to the primary holder but processed individually.
What documents prove the relationship?
Marriage certificate for spouses, birth certificate or adoption certificate for children. These must be translated into English (or Thai) and legalised.
Do we need to show ฿500,000 separately for each dependant?
The financial evidence is typically shown once for the family unit, but the primary holder's income for the last 6 months must also be documented.
